Airbag: The Mexican Insurtech Winning Awards, Attracting Investors, and Reducing Accidents Across LATAM
Airbag Technologies, a Mexico-based insurtech for freight transport, earned three major awards in under 30 days across Spain, Mexico, and Colombia.

In a market where insurtech startups are growing at a rate of 53% annually and already exceed 500 players across the region, Airbag Technologies, founded in 2020 in Mexico City, isn’t just competing — it’s standing out. In less than 30 days, the company secured three major recognitions across Spain, Mexico, and Colombia, validating its traction and real-world impact in the transportation and insurance sectors.
Three Awards, Three Countries, One Message: The Traction Is Real
- Madrid: Airbag won the Seal Award for “Best Partnership” at the Insurance World Challenge for its alliance with Seguros Bolívar, after demonstrating an impressive 40% reduction in accident rates among insured fleets.
- Mexico City: At The Logistics World Summit 2025, Airbag was recognized by industry media as the most eye-catching booth, generating over 190 product demos and capturing the interest of nearly 200 transportation companies.
- Medellín: Selected among 340 startups as part of the Top 10 live pitches at Startco 2025, Airbag attracted over $750,000 in investment interest.
Fewer Accidents, Higher Driver Retention
Beyond the awards, the numbers speak for themselves. The platform has not only helped reduce accident frequency and severity but also boosted driver retention by 30% — a key challenge for logistics operators across the region.
Airbag’s model combines real-time driving behavior analytics, continuous feedback, and a gamified rewards system for drivers, whom they call the “Road Heroes.” This approach — blending safety with positive incentives — is already impacting more than 11,000 active drivers and 300 client companies across Mexico, Colombia, and Costa Rica.
This Is Not Luck. It’s Strategy.
“These awards and recognitions confirm what we’ve always believed: rewarding drivers is the smartest way to protect lives and operating margins. With Seguros Bolívar’s validation, the strong market response at Logistics World, and investor interest from Startco, we are ready to scale Airbag across Latin America,” said Adrián Trucios, CEO and co-founder of Airbag.
María Fernanda Gómez, Risk Director at Seguros Bolívar, added:
“Thanks to Airbag, we’ve reduced accident frequency and severity by 40% annually, benefiting both our insured clients and our operations.”

More Than Technology: Changing the Culture on the Road
Airbag defines itself as an Insurtech-as-a-Service focused on the freight transportation sector. But beyond the tech, their true bet is cultural: shifting driver behavior through positive incentives — not just penalties.
The startup is part of the portfolio of Impacta VC, a venture capital fund supporting high-impact social and environmental startups.
In an industry full of promises and short on proven metrics, Airbag seems to be showing that the impact + results formula can, indeed, scale across LATAM.
