CMI Celebrates Acquisition of Majority Stake in Del Real Foods

CMI, Corporación Multi Inversiones (CMI), a multi-Latin corporation with over a century of experience, has taken a strategic step in expanding into the U.S. market by acquiring a majority stake in Del Real Foods. This business move bolsters CMI’s presence in the U.S. while expanding its reach in the prepared Hispanic foods sector, adding innovative products and authentic flavors to its portfolio that resonate with consumers.

A Key Step in CMI’s U.S. Growth Strategy

Under this agreement, Del Real’s founding family and private equity firm Palladium Equity Partners will retain a minority stake, marking a new phase in CMI’s growth. “This agreement represents more than an investment; it symbolizes CMI’s commitment to continue our legacy while responding to opportunities in the U.S. market,” said Juan José Gutiérrez, Chairman of CMI Alimentos.

Having started U.S. operations over 20 years ago with Pollo Campero, CMI views Del Real Foods as a strategic platform to strengthen its presence and growth in a priority region.

Del Real Foods: Tradition and Authenticity in Hispanic Foods

Founded by the Cárdenas family, Del Real Foods has established itself as a key player in the U.S. prepared Hispanic foods sector. The company produces tamales, carnitas, and salsas, among other products, all crafted with fresh ingredients and authentic recipes that embody the essence of Hispanic cuisine.

With this partnership, Del Real can expand its portfolio and distribution into new U.S. markets, backed by CMI’s longstanding vision and expertise.

José Gregorio Baquero, CEO of CMI Alimentos, expressed the company’s excitement about the alliance, underscoring the shared values between both organizations: “Del Real Foods embodies the same commitment to quality and authenticity that CMI stands for. This partnership not only broadens our U.S. presence but reinforces our mission to bring authentic flavors to our customers’ tables and support the growth of our business partners.”

Innovation and Shared Growth: A Promising Future

This acquisition aligns with CMI’s long-term focus on seizing opportunities in key markets, with a constant commitment to quality and social responsibility. The collaboration with Palladium Equity Partners and the Cárdenas family will allow Del Real Foods to continue advancing in a highly competitive market while broadening its range of authentic Hispanic foods.

Michael Axelrod, CEO of Del Real Foods, shared his confidence in this new chapter with CMI, highlighting the growth potential this partnership brings to the company.

By acquiring a majority stake in Del Real Foods, CMI establishes itself as a key player in the Hispanic food market in the U.S. With this alliance, CMI continues to build a legacy of development and positive impact across all regions it operates in, reaffirming its mission to create “opportunities that change lives” and meeting the rising demand for authentic, quality products in the North American market.
