CMI Opens New Chicken Farm in Guatemala to Support Food Security
With an investment of over $8 million, CMI Alimentos opens a state-of-the-art chicken farm in Guatemala, reinforcing its commitment to food security and regional economic development.
The new chicken farm by CMI Alimentos, located in Chiquimulilla, Santa Rosa, marks a significant step in the growth strategy of Corporación Multi Inversiones (CMI). This facility, with a capacity to house 472,000 birds, will not only contribute to the food security of the country and region but also create new job opportunities. The farm is expected to produce over 1.25 million pounds of chicken per month.
Economic Development and Local Employment
The opening of this farm will generate 17 new direct jobs in areas such as supervision and operations, fostering local development and providing opportunities in the municipality of Chiquimulilla. This initiative not only enhances the company’s production capacity but also drives regional economic growth.
The new chicken facility is equipped with 13 modern barns, each measuring 14x156 meters, designed with tunnel ventilation. This ventilation system, achieving average wind speeds of 950 ft/min, ensures an optimal environment for the birds during their early life stages. Additionally, variable-speed fans improve energy efficiency and bird comfort.
CMI has implemented advanced technology that allows for significant resource savings: over 50% in LP gas, 25% in electricity, and up to 20% in water. These innovations benefit production while also contributing to environmental sustainability.
Commitment to Environmental Sustainability
The farm also excels in sustainable practices regarding wastewater and solid waste management. These efforts reflect CMI’s commitment to environmental protection and responsible chicken production.
Emilio Porta, General Director of CMI Alimentos' Meat Solutions, emphasizes: "Advancing towards the transformation, evolution, and growth of our operations, while always caring for the environment, is the purpose of this new farm. The tradition and local flavor represented by brands like Pollo Rey continue to be a cornerstone of food security, ensuring quality and excellence for consumers."
With this new chicken farm, CMI Alimentos reinforces its leadership in the chicken industry, operating with responsibility and transparency to promote economic and social development in Guatemala and the region.
