GTCMujer Awards Recognizes Inspiring Guatemalan Women

Grupo Financiero G&T Continental has launched the first edition of the GTCMujer Awards, an initiative designed to recognize Guatemalan women who have excelled through their perseverance, dedication, and commitment in various fields. This award marks a significant milestone for the GTCMujer program, which aims to provide financial solutions tailored to the needs of Guatemalan women and support their personal and professional growth.
In this inaugural edition, five women were honored for their contributions in art, sports, entrepreneurship, civic responsibility, and business leadership.
What Are the GTCMujer Awards?
The GTCMujer Awards are part of the GTCMujer program by Grupo Financiero G&T Continental, which aims to recognize and support women who create positive impacts in their communities through their initiatives. The selection process began with over 1,000 nominations, from which the Guatemalan public and a specialized jury chose the five winners. The platform not only provides recognition but also tangible support to help the awardees continue developing their projects.
Each winner received a replica of the GTCMujer sculpture, a cash prize, and mentorship from an expert in their field to further enhance their initiatives. Annisabelle Behrens, Director of Entrepreneurship and Financial Inclusion at the bank, emphasized the importance of providing this visibility and support, noting that each awardee expressed gratitude for the recognition and resources offered.
Winners of the First Edition
Over a two-month period, the Guatemalan public voted for their favorite candidates, and a specialized jury evaluated the applications to select winners in five categories:
Artist: María Elena Curruchiche Roquel
Executive: María Cristina Mateo Suar de Salvador
Civic Responsibility: Luisa López Mozón
Sports: Adriana Ruano
Entrepreneur and SME: Sarahí Muñoz
A Milestone for Financial Inclusion and Development
The GTCMujer Awards not only celebrate the individual achievements of these women but also reinforce Grupo Financiero G&T Continental’s commitment to financial inclusion and women’s empowerment in Guatemala. Enrique Rodríguez, CEO of the institution, emphasized that this event marks the beginning of an initiative aimed at continuing to promote the impact of inspiring women in the country.
Mario Granai, President of Grupo Financiero G&T Continental, highlighted the importance of this platform, noting that women represent the best of Guatemalan society: resilience, creativity, and leadership skills. He also stressed the bank's commitment to continue creating spaces that encourage more women to lead projects that drive the country's development.
The financial group plans to continue developing this platform in the coming years, consolidating its support for women-led projects and promoting a culture of equity and recognition. With this first edition, the GTCMujer Awards have set a precedent for future generations, demonstrating that female talent is essential for the progress and development of Guatemala.
